I had the pleasure of spending an enjoyable couple of hours in Birmingham this week in the city centre, photographing this guy, a dancer by trade who wanted some portrait photography doing for his modelling portfolio.
Having met in the city centre we wandered along to the Mailbox, where we grabbed some great images, before working our way along the canal path, ending our brief exchange by the new library.
It's great to get out on location for portrait photography work with lots of different backgrounds and props to use. From simple concrete steps to rugged old walls, they all add character to portfolio photography images. We even managed to find an old doorway with plenty of graffiti on it for one of my favourite images of the day.
Birmingham is a fantastic, vibrant city that makes a wonderful backdrop for photography of an genre, but for portrait photography there's so many great areas to go for interesting locations that offer so many different options.
All images were shot with a Fuji XT-1 and 60mm f/2.4 lens to give that lovely sharp image with super blurry background.
If you're considering portrait photography, why not get in touch, and let's find somewhere interesting and funky to shoot some images together.
