Having bought a Leica M2 and a Jupiter 8 50mm lens a few short weeks ago I had a conversation with a guy on Twitter who very kindly offered a contra deal for a couple of my leather camera straps in exchange for his own spare collapsible 50mm Summicron f2 lens.
Of course it would be rude not to accept and so the deal was duly done with the overrider to try the lens to make sure I liked it prior to shipping off said straps. I shot a roll of film through the Leica last week which when I went to rewind somehow managed to screw up and ruin the film. I've thought about this having been pretty upset at spoiling the film and believe it was user error as opposed to camera issues, so needed to shoot a film through the camera quickly to check the lens was as I expected for a trip away I have coming up. A quick reload with Poundland film and a 20 minute wander around our local wood and I had what I needed.
Here's the results straight back from FilmDev today. It's a roll of Agfa Vista 200, which I shot at ISO100 and to be honest I think the results show I still need to work on exposure some. I shot using an iPhone light meter app (Pocket Light Meter, but maybe I'm being too cautious with the speeds and need to be a bit more adventurous as the results still appear to be a little on the dark side. On the whole though the scans look OK, considering and of course the lens is as sweet as!
